World Animal Day is being celebrated worldwide.
However, in Suriname, even though there has been a Law since 2017, protecting animals (De Wet Dieren Welzijn), most people and Police Officers have never heard of it and do not act when animal abuse and neglect are taking place.

With this Run for Animals, we hope to bring awareness that every animal has the right to live free of hunger and thirst, pain, illness, abuse and neglect.

Suriname is over run by cats and dogs. The ONLY humane way to curb the huge numbers of overpopulation, is to spay (steriliseren van wijfjes) and neuter (castreren van mannetjes).

Worldwide studies have shown that 70% of a country’s cat and dog population must be made sterile, in order to have a healthy population.

Participation Requirements per Distance

To ensure the safety of all participants, the following age requirements apply. Age is determined based on the age the participant reaches in 2026, regardless of the actual birth date within that year.

âš« 5 KM RUN

Age: 10 years and older

Requirements:
* Participation is open to participants who turn 10 years of age or older in 2026.
* Participants must be physically capable of completing the distance independently.

Start Time: 6:30 AM.
Cut-Off Time: 1 hour

Participants must finish no later than 07:30 AM.

General Conditions

* All participants take part at their own risk.
* Wearing the official race bib is mandatory and must remain visible on the front of the body at all times.
* The organization reserves the right to refuse participation or remove participants from the event if participant safety or the safety of others is compromised.
* Entry fees are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled by the organization.
